The Alamodome opened its doors on May 15, 1993. Envisioned as a community gathering place for San Antonio and visitors, the facility has hosted local, regional and international events that not only entertain patrons, but also bolster the area economy. Since its opening ceremony, the Alamodome has welcomed over 34 MILLION attendees with 46 per cent traveling from more than 90 miles away. In January 2023 alone, 54 million patrons and viewers watched live and broadcasted events from the Alamodome. The venue has generated over 3.9 BILLION for the area economy in the past 30 years according to a recent survey. Built for versatility, the Alamodome is home to championship level competition and epic events. Over its 30 year history, the Dome has hosted High School, UIL State, NCAA, NBA, NFL, MLB and International Soccer events plus WWE Royal Rumble, Boxing, Olympic Festival, Motor Sport, Ice Shows and concerts with the biggest names in the music industry. Paul McCartney opened the Alamodome's stadium concert era on May 29, 1993 playing to 48,709 fans and the venue has continued to welcome headline acts such as George Strait, Garth Brooks, Elton John, Metallica, One Direction and Bad Bunny just to name a few.
